When I saw the following picture it made me wonder if this place actually existed. So I did some research and it does...
- Narrowest city in the world: Yanjin County, Yunnan Province, China holds the title of the narrowest city in the world.
- Length and width: Stretching for 5 kilometers, it reaches a width of only 30 meters at its most constricted point.
- Population: Despite its size, Yanjin has a population of around 400,000.
- Age: Founded over 2,000 years ago, the city boasts a long history.
- River: Situated alongside the Heng River.
- Building style: Buildings are constructed on stilts due to frequent flooding in the area.
- Unique bridge: A historical bridge collapse during a festival led to the creation of a unique covered bridge.
- Transportation: Two main roads, one on each bank of the river, form the core of the city's transportation network.
- Highway access: The mountainous landscape restricts Yanjin to a single highway for connection to the outside world.
- Limited bridges: Reports suggest Yanjin may have only one bridge currently in use.
